Typhoon Noul made landfall in southern China’s Guangdong province early Sunday morning, lashing the area with heavy rain and strong winds. The 12th typhoon of the year is the most powerful to make landfall east of the Pearl River Estuary in the past 10 years, according to state-run broadcaster China Central Television. Meteorologists warned of urban waterlogging, flash floods, mudslides, and landslides.
