Chinese scientist under investigation after 6-year-old girl dies ‘following gene therapy’

Shanghai Jiao Tong University is investigating one of its leading scientists after a report alleged a six-year-old girl died following treatment he administered. According to the report, published by the journal Science after a joint investigation with the non-profit organisation Retraction Watch, the girl died days after receiving experimental gene-editing therapy from Qui Zilong, a renowned neuroscientist at the university.
