Indian coronavirus death toll surpasses China’s, and rising, despite strict nationwide lockdown

With more than 190,500 Covid-19 infections reported as of June 1, 2020, India has become the seventh worst-hit country in the ongoing global pandemic. 

Despite a strict nationwide lockdown, the country’s coronavirus death toll has quadrupled in less than a month to surpass the number of deaths seen in China.
