High-speed trains collide in Spain, killing at least 21 and injuring dozens

One high-speed train derailed before jumping onto another set of tracks and slamming into a train moving in the opposite direction.

A high-speed train derailed and struck another oncoming train during a deadly crash in southern Spain on the evening of January 18, 2026. The second train was also pushed off the tracks in the collision. Police sources said at least 21 people were killed and 100 others injured, including as many as 30 seriously hurt.
