Tourism, one of Hong Kong’s four pillar industries, has suffered its worst downturn in more than a decade.

Tourist arrivals dropped 40 per cent in August 2019, as anti-government protests dragged on for more than three months sending a chill across the entire economy.

In the tourism sector, the unrest has sent shock waves through a range of industries from catering to hotels as well as retail.
