Hong Kong swimmers cross Victoria Harbour in annual race after long training

Daniel Suen

Hong Kong's annual cross-harbour swim race has returned for a second year since a two-year pause caused by social unrest and the Covid-19 pandemic. About 1,500 swimmers took part in 1,000-metre (3,280ft) race from Wan Chai to Tsim Sha Tsui on October 23, 2022.

Jimmy Kwok and Athena Wong were the winners in the men's and women's categories, respectively, but for many, like swimmer Amy Miao and her coach Harry Wright, the thrill of the race was a welcome reward for months of training.
