Hong Kong to cordon off parts of Sharp Island shoreline to protect corals over “golden week” break

Hong Kong authorities will block off parts of Sharp Island’s shoreline in Sai Kung to protect its coral reef ahead of China’s Labour Day “golden week”, and its expected surge of visitors from the mainland, starting May 1, 2026.
