Wang Fuk Court families return home on final day of initial collection phase

The final residents of the first round of people allowed to return to their flats in Hong Kong’s Wang Fuk Court were given three hours to survey the damage and retrieve any belongings on May 4, 2026. The housing estate in Tai Po was destroyed in November 2025. It was Hong Kong’s worst residential fire in decades. While some salvaged essential items and documents, many were forced to leave behind bulky items and much of their life-long memories.
