The Tin Hau Festival got under way on May 6, 2026, on Hong Kong’s Po Toi Island. At the centre of the celebrations is a bamboo theatre built on a cliff, hosting Cantonese opera and traditional rituals such as firecracker grabbing. The five-day event honours Tin Hau, the goddess of the sea.
