‘You can always find a path’, says Hong Kong DSE student with cerebral palsy
19-year-old Chang Hoi-kiu passed all subjects in this year’s DSE exam and achieved the requirement for an Associate’s Degree.
Nineteen-year-old Chang Hoi-ku has achieved a score on Hong Kong’s university entrance exam that is high enough to apply for admission to an Associate’s Degree programme. She achieved the scores on the Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) despite living with cerebral palsy, hypertonia and paraplegia. Because of her medical conditions, Chang was not able to write down answers herself on the exam paper. Instead, she spoke her answers out loud so a special assistant could write them down for her. Chang hopes her experience can inspire other students with special educational needs to achieve their dreams.
