‘Owned by the Dutch, born in Hong Kong’: Black and White’s lasting role in cha chaan teng culture
Stacks of Black and White’s white-and-red cans, featuring an illustration of a Dutch Friesian cow, have long been a familiar fixture at local diners.
Hong Kong-style milk tea has been using Black and White’s full cream evaporated milk for more than 80 years. South China Morning Post reporter Oscar Liu visited a local diner that has been using the product for decades, to find out what makes this brand so popular – and how it is staying relevant with younger generations.
