Hong Kong and Macau police have detained eight people in connection with a suspected investment fraud linked to a Vietnamese coffee enterprise. Operating under the name Fun Coffee, the syndicate allegedly cheated more than 200 people out of nearly HK$100 million (US$12.75 million). Some victims were retirees in their 50s who had invested up to HK$9.63 million (US$1.23 million) in the firm that promoted what it called the world’s first “sports-coffee-value ecosystem”.
