World’s largest ice and snow festival returns to Chinese city of Harbin

The world’s largest ice and snow festival opened on January 5, 2026, in Harbin, China. The event’s 42nd edition featured Ice and Snow World, a park that has been part of the event for 27 years. This time the park is 20 percent larger and a record 400,000 cubic metres of ice and snow was used to create its castles, slides and light shows. The event is scheduled to run until mid-February.
