Tickets for the Fifa World Cup 2026 are more expensive than at any previous editions of the tournament. For the first time, Fifa has relied on a system called “dynamic pricing”, which is standard in the US entertainment market. Under this model, the average price of a ticket climbed by 34 per cent from last October to April, while some tickets for the July 11 final have been posted for millions of dollars on Fifa’s official resale site. While the prices have sparked intense backlash, Fifa has defended the practice by citing unprecedented demand, and an obligation to follow US market norms.
