The world's biggest iPhone factory has fallen on hard times
As iPhone sales drop globally, Foxconn, Apple’s main manufacturer in China, has been slashing workers’ benefits and salaries, prompting mass resignations. A South China Morning Post investigation in one of Foxconn’s facilities in Zhengzhou, Henan province, found out that the company is having trouble finding new hires. Our reporter was offered a job there to assemble them for less than US$2 per hour, 40 hours per week.
