Baidu unveils China’s answer to ChatGPT, sends stocks tumbling

ChatGPT has generated immense interest in China after its launch. On March 16, 2022, Chinese tech giant Baidu unveiled “Ernie Bot”, China’s first answer to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. But instead of testing the chatbot in real-time, Baidu introduced the new tech over PowerPoint slides showing what the bot is capable of, which sent its stock tumbling in Hong Kong.
