Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York scales down amid coronavirus surge

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade marched on in New York City on November 26. It was scaled down from its usual 2.5-mile (4km) route to just one block around the Macy's department store.

Organisers asked spectators to watch the event on television at home, but a small crowd showed up to watch in person anyways.

As US coronavirus cases surged, many Americans opted not to travel home and chose to celebrate virtually with their family and friends.
