Russia tests new ballistic missile Putin says will ‘ensure security from external threats’

Russia said on April 20, 2022, that it had successfully tested its new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile. The missile is a new addition to the country’s nuclear arsenal. Russian President Vladimir Putin said the missile was Russia’s most advanced yet, and was capable of penetrating “all modern anti-missile defences.”
