One week after the Serbian government declared a one-month amnesty period for citizens to surrender unregistered firearms on May 14, 2023, authorities say they have collected some 13,500 weapons. After June 8, those caught with unregistered weapons will face more severe penalties. The crackdown on weapons came after two deadly mass shootings in two days.
