The US House of Representatives passed a massive tax-and-spending bill on July 3, 2025, that fundamentally revamps government spending and jeopardises dozens of planned clean energy projects with ties to China. In a 218 to 214 vote, the sprawling One Big Beautiful Bill Act became the most significant legislative win yet for US President Donald Trump’s second term. With the House vote, the legislation heads to Trump’s desk in time for US Independence Day on July 4, when the White House has scheduled an afternoon signing ceremony.
