Officials say at least 589 people were killed, and thousands injured following the back-to-back earthquakes that shook Venezuela on Wednesday. But experts expect the death toll to rise, with thousands still missing in the aftermath of the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 quakes. China has joined several countries in helping search and recovery efforts. It follows a plea for more international aid from Venezuela’s acting President Delcy Rodríguez.
