Former Thai MP arrested after shooting leaves an official dead, another person injured
The attack comes days after deadly school shooting that has renewed debate about gun control in Thailand.
A former Thai member of parliament has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a retired police colonel and wounding of the victim’s driver. Chalong Riewrang reportedly confessed to the crime, claiming it was in self-defence. The incident happened on Monday, just days after a mass shooting at a school in the same province that renewed concerns about Thailand’s high gun ownership rates despite strict regulations.
