Daytime temperatures are expected to rise later this week, the Hong Kong Observatory has said, as it cancelled all typhoon signals.

The weather forecaster lowered the No 3 signal at 6.20pm on Tuesday as Tropical Cyclone Fengshen, which means “the god of wind” in Chinese, departed. The strong monsoon signal was in force.

The Observatory warned that local winds would still be strong offshore and on high ground, while flooding in low-lying areas could occur under the combined effect of the spring tide and the northeast monsoon.

“The minimum temperature [on Wednesday] morning will be about 19 degrees Celsius in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories,” it said, adding that it would be persistently windy and cool in the next couple of days.

“The maximum temperature will be around 22 degrees during the day.”
