Families of Hong Kong pair killed in plane crash get no word from Emirates
Relatives of Vincent Ho and Chan Chun-yin call for airline to take responsibility, after visiting Kwai Chung Public Mortuary to identify duo
The bereaved families of the two airport staff killed when an Emirates cargo flight veered off a runway have said they have not received any condolence messages from the airline, and are demanding a comprehensive investigation into the accident as soon as possible.
A dozen relatives of security patrol vehicle driver Vincent Ho Kwok-cheung, 41, and his colleague, 30-year-old Chan Chun-yin, visited Kwai Chung Public Mortuary on Tuesday morning and were visibly shaken after identifying the pair.
Chan’s sister called for Emirates to take responsibility for the incident and said the airline owed the bereaved families a proper explanation about how Monday’s accident happened.
“I haven’t received any condolences or concern from Emirates yet,” she told the press.
Emirates clarified in a statement to the Post on Monday that the cargo aircraft was wet-leased and operated by ACT Airlines. This means ACT provided the aircraft and crew to Emirates.
Chan’s sister also raised concerns about whether the four crew members of flight EK9788, which had been travelling from Dubai, would be allowed to leave Hong Kong without being held accountable for the deaths.
