Magic Control was ridden patiently second last in the eight-horse field, hit the lead 150m out and won going away for a third win over the straight 1,000m from eight starts. James Tak just held on for second after dictating the run from gate four. He's given a good sight in both runs over the straight 1,000m from four starts this term. Punted late Full Credit ran on nicely to just miss second by a lip after having to switch out sharply behind a wall of horses for a clear run 200m out following a rails run closing the grandstand from behind midfield. He would have likely grabbed second with uninterrupted running. Whizz Kid gradually faded after prompting the pace on the stands side. He's always a chance over the straight 1,000m. Healthy Healthy had to take hold late after settling midfield following a sluggish start. He rarely produces a bad run sprinting at either track. Bottomuptogether didn't find much after a prominent run on the far side from a low draw. He couldn't back up a win last start over the Valley 1,000m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (448) - CITI PRIVATE BANK HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 MAGIC CONTROL (J333) B Shinn After the event, B Shinn stated that he had expected to take up a position in the lead.

He said when the early stages of the event were run inside of standard time he elected to ride his mount with cover where it was comfortable.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 BOTTOMUPTOGETHER (J316) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

After the event, H Bowman could offer no explanation for his mount's failure to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 FULL CREDIT (J185) L Hewitson Held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres.

After the 300 Metres was directed to the inside of a number of runners where it obtained clear running near the 200 Metres.

Horse No 4 WHIZZ KID (E392) H Bentley K Teetan (HEALTHY HEALTHY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 300 Metres he endeavoured to obtain a run between JAMES TAK and WHIZZ KID where there was not sufficient room to do so, resulting in HEALTHY HEALTHY making contact with WHIZZ KID and then WHIZZ KID being unnecessarily crowded and becoming unbalanced when it was bumped on a number of occasions between the 250 Metres and the 100 Metres and further resulting in HEALTHY HEALTHY having to be checked after the 100 Metres when disappointed for clear running between WHIZZ KID and JAMES TAK which shifted out slightly.

As a result, STELLAR EXPRESS was checked near the 50 Metres when HEALTHY HEALTHY shifted in.

K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 5 March 2025 at Happy Valley.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.

Horse No 5 SUPERB CAPITALIST (H092) M Chadwick Jumped awkwardly.

Horse No 6 JAMES TAK (J007) A Atzeni After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on JAMES TAK at the request of Trainer T P Yung.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, JAMES TAK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 STELLAR EXPRESS (J186) B Avdulla Near the 50 Metres was checked when crowded between BOTTOMUPTOGETHER and HEALTHY HEALTHY which shifted in.

When questioned, B Avdulla stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages.

He said near the 200 Metres when momentarily tightened between JAMES TAK and BOTTOMUPTOGETHER, his mount was reluctant to hold its position between those runners.

He further stated that over the concluding stages when crowded for room STELLAR EXPRESS then continued to be reluctant to hold its position and in the circumstances he was not too disappointed with the performance of the horse.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 HEALTHY HEALTHY (H203) K Teetan K Teetan pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching and after the 300 Metres (see WHIZZ KID).

After the 300 Metres improved into a run between JAMES TAK and WHIZZ KID where there was not sufficient room, resulting in HEALTHY HEALTHY bumping with WHIZZ KID between the 250 Metres and the 100 Metres and being checked after the 100 Metres (see WHIZZ KID).
