Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Sky Jewellery looped the field from near last from gate 13 to get up 20m out for a second win at his first try over 1,400m from three starts. Punted late South Star found one just too good after hitting the lead near the 100m following a rails run from midfield. Harold Win stayed on a distant third after poking his head in front 200m out following a speed-tracking run from gate 14. The step up to 1,400m wasn't an issue and he can add to an earlier win if he remains in the grade. Lucky Sam Gor came from last for fourth after peeling off heels widest out at the 180m. He's made a good impression in both career runs over 1,400m. California Blitz whacked on one-paced for fifth after a one-out, one-back run. It was a better effort with a step up to 1,400m. Never Too Soon made only a mild bid after a one-off trip from midfield. It was an OK effort down in grade with a 10-pound claimer. Super Contented ran on without threatening after making his run five back on the fence. It was a positive run off a 403-day injury-induced absence.

Horse No 1 NEVER TOO SOON (E434) P N Wong Bumped at the start.

After the 900 Metres became unbalanced when buffeted for room between JOLLY RULER and SOUTH STAR, both of which shifted ground slightly.

For some distance after the 700 Metres raced in restricted room between JOLLY RULER and SOUTH STAR which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider when racing keenly.

Horse No 2 SKY JEWELLERY (K032) H Bowman From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 JOLLY RULER (E346) R Kingscote After the event, R Kingscote stated that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and after making contact with NEVER TOO SOON near the 800 Metres did not travel well thereafter before giving ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 CELESTIAL PATCH (K151) A Atzeni Shortly after the start was steadied when racing in restricted room between GALE SAGA and PEARL OF PANG'S, both of which shifted ground slightly.

After the event, B Thompson stated that the instructions were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages from its wide barrier.
