Race Seven : (636) - BUSAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 SPICY GOLD (H440) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 GOLDEN EMPIRE (E490) K De Melo K De Melo pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference shortly after the start (see CHARMING BABE).
Horse No 3 HAPPY FAT CAT (G166) A Hamelin Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 STORM RIDER (J027) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 SOLID CAR (K058) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.
After the event K Teetan stated that whilst he was obliged to race three wide he had cover behind LO PAN SPIRIT.
He said in the Home Straight SOLID CAR finished the race off only fairly when placed under pressure.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 DENFIELD (G471) A Atzeni Approaching the 1100 Metres raced in restricted room between CHARMING BABE and SOLID CAR and as a result commenced to race keenly.
Horse No 9 LO PAN SPIRIT (J233) Z Purton The tongue tie was replaced on arrival at the Start.
Jumped only fairly.
Near the 500 Metres was steadied away from STORM RIDER when that runner shifted out slightly.
After the event Z Purton stated that his mount, which was having its first race start at Happy Valley, was obliged to race wide and without cover and as a result did not appreciate racing around the Happy Valley circuit.
Noted to have lost its right hind plate after the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 CHARMING BABE (J513) K C Leung K De Melo (GOLDEN EMPIRE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that shortly after the start he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CHARMING BABE, resulting in CHARMING BABE having to be checked.
K De Melo was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 11 June 2025 and to expire on Sunday, 15 June 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.
Horse No 11 GALAXY WITNESS (G110) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Approaching the 300 Metres was checked to avoid FIND MY LOVE when it made the Home Turn awkwardly.
Horse No 4 VICTORY MOMENTS (H142) E C W Wong Was found to have skin disease after arriving at the Happy Valley Racecourse.
Was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found not to be suitable to start.
Acting on this advice VICTORY MOMENTS was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, VICTORY MOMENTS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Happy Fat Cat kept finding after controlling the pace in front from the 1,050m for a second win from his past three starts. He'll remain in the grade and can win again. Spicy Gold kept on gamely to dead-heat for second after enjoying all the favours on the leader's back. He is as honest as the day is long over the Valley 1,200m. Storm Rider came on well to share second after a prominent run. He's held his form well following a second last time out. The sensationally backed Galaxy Witness dashed late for fourth after making his run three from the rear. He hasn't won in ages but continues to be a good money spinner for connections. Golden Empire kept on well for fifth after working forward three wide to track the winner from gate nine. It was a positive showing carrying seven pounds more following a win. Written Casa made some ground late along the inside without threatening. Favourite Solid Car produced only a grinding effort after a wide trip with cover from behind midfield. Victory Moments was scratched in the parade ring.
