Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (640) - JORDAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 LUCKY MAN (J315) B Avdulla After the event B Avdulla stated that LUCKY MAN was forced very wide and without cover from the 800 Metres and as a result was unable to run on in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 FAIRY HORSE (J144) H Bowman Slow to begin.
After the event H Bowman stated that with the early stages of the event being run outside of standard time FAIRY HORSE was unable to finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 CIRCUIT VICTORY (H487) P N Wong Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Apprentice P N Wong pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference leaving the 900 Metres (see WIND SPEEDER).
After the event Apprentice P N Wong confirmed that with the blinkers being applied for the first time she was instructed to lead on the horse from its wide barrier.
Noted to have a small abrasion to the left hock.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 FLYING ROMANTIC (J057) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly.
Checked leaving the 900 Metres when the pace steadied.
Horse No 6 SUPER EAGLE (G408) Z Purton After the event Z Purton stated that after being checked leaving the 900 Metres SUPER EAGLE then raced keenly for some distance thereafter and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, SUPER EAGLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 7 HO HO STAR (H291) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.
Steadied leaving the 900 Metres to avoid SUPER EAGLE.
From the 400 Metres until the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.
Lay in in the Home Straight.
Horse No 8 STERLING WONGCHOY (H273) J Orman Jumped only fairly.
From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 EVER SMART (J179) H Bentley Checked leaving the 900 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 FUNG (J101) E C W Wong Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with WIND SPEEDER.
Horse No 11 SPEEDY SMARTIE (H108) C L Chau Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the event C L Chau stated that over the concluding stages his whip became entangled in his reins which restricted his ability to fully test his mount out to the finish of the event.
Horse No 12 FLYING PHANTOM (J086) A Atzeni After the event A Atzeni stated that with the early stages of the event being run outside of standard time FLYING PHANTOM raced keenly.
He said after being steadied away from SPEEDY SMARTIE near the 600 Metres FLYING PHANTOM did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 13 WIND SPEEDER (E281) M L Yeung On jumping was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
Apprentice P N Wong (CIRCUIT VICTORY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that leaving the 900 Metres she allowed her mount to shift in when not clear of WIND SPEEDER, resulting in WIND SPEEDER being checked to avoid the heels of CIRCUIT VICTORY and also striking the heels of CIRCUIT VICTORY and further as she did shift in when not clear she steadied the pace which resulted in EVER SMART which was following and also SUPER EAGLE having to be checked.
Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 25 May 2025 and to expire on Sunday, 1 June 2025 on which day she may resume race riding (2 Sha Tin racedays - as she is not eligible to ride at Happy Valley).
In addition, Apprentice Wong was fined $10,000.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered her neutral race riding record.
Horse No 14 CALIFORNIA ICON (H404) Y L Chung On jumping was bumped by CIRCUIT VICTORY which shifted out.

Circuit Victory led and never looked back after straightening two lengths on top for a maiden win at his 11th start. Ever Smart stayed on nicely for second after a prominent run on the leader's back. The return to Sha Tin nearly worked the oracle after one placing from two Valley starts. Flying Romantic ran on steadily for third after a rails run from midfield. He's close to a win after placing in two of three straight runs following a move to blinkers. Sensationally-backed Speedy Smartie plugged on well for fourth after sitting third in the run wide without cover from gate eighth. He did live up to a near win two runs back over this course and distance. Ho Ho Star made headway late for fifth after making his run four from the rear. He's gone OK in his past two of three runs following a win. Fairy Horse ran on without threatening from near the rear.
