Ka Ying Superb settled prominently on the fence before coming off the inside 250m out, hitting the front at the 120m and holding off the favourite Shamus Storm for a first win at his ninth start. He took full advantage of gate one but had been in the mix in five of six other starts this term. Shamus Storm just failed to get up after finding a spot near the inside from behind midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen with placings in three of four starts. Colourful Winner grudgingly gave way to finish a distant third after trying to make all from gate two. Only U came on late down the outside to just miss a placing after making his run at the rear from gate 10. He was able to back up a closing fourth last start. Circuit Mighty stayed on late through the centre for fifth after a wide-with-cover trip from midfield. It was another honest effort. Mr Cool ran on without threatening after sitting wide towards the rear from gate 13. He struggled with more weight after a win.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (645) - COX'S HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 REZEKI (J340) H Bowman Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by COLOURFUL WINNER which shifted out abruptly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 ACROSS DA UNIVERSE (J328) E C W Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 3 MR COOL (K184) K Teetan Near the 350 Metres was eased and shifted to the outside of SIGHT DREAMER to continue into clear running.

Horse No 4 C YEAH (K034) K C Leung Made contact with the right side of the starting gate on jumping.

Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race.

Before being allowed to race again, C YEAH will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 5 KA YING SUPERB (J091) M F Poon For a short distance after the 350 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 SHAMUS STORM (K031) Z Purton On jumping became unbalanced when bumped by REZEKI.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 GOR GOR (K104) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 9 HE WAS ME (J535) Y L Chung Near the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between ACROSS DA UNIVERSE and SHAMUS STORM (Z Purton) which shifted out to improve.

Z Purton was reprimanded.

Horse No 10 SIGHT DREAMER (J542) J Orman Throughout the early stages raced keenly as its rider J Orman endeavoured to restrain his mount to find cover.

SIGHT DREAMER did not respond to his efforts and was obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 11 AUTUMN DELIGHT (J090) B Avdulla After the event B Avdulla stated that when his mount commenced well he elected to go forward to capitalise on its good start.

Horse No 12 COLOURFUL WINNER (J312) M L Yeung Shifted out abruptly at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 13 ONLY U (J037) A Hamelin Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 14 CIRCUIT MIGHTY (G078) P N Wong When questioned regarding her riding in the middle stages and the reason she improved to the outside of ACROSS DA UNIVERSE leaving the 700 Metres, Apprentice P N Wong stated that her instructions were to hold a forward position.

She said after being able to obtain a position with cover behind ACROSS DA UNIVERSE she elected to shift to that runner's outside leaving the 700 Metres as CIRCUIT MIGHTY has a tendency to race keenly and she wanted to give the horse an unimpeded run in the race.

She added that after being obliged to race four wide and without cover from the 700 Metres CIRCUIT MIGHTY responded well to her urgings in the Home Straight.

The Stewards advised Apprentice Wong that, in their opinion, she had made an error of judgement by shifting to the outside of ACROSS DA UNIVERSE too soon which resulted in her mount racing unnecessarily wide in the middle stages.
