Recap by phillip woo

Following a prominent run on the fence Szeryng kept finding after pinching a break leading 150m out for a maiden win at his third start. He had shown progress in his first two starts at the Valley. Invincible Ibis charged home late down the outside for second after making his run third last from gate 14. He's a winner waiting to happen after two eye-catching runs to start his career. Debutant Peridot wove a run late near the inside to add further value to the exotics after a patient ride from fourth-last. It was a very encouraging effort. Flowing Riches whacked on one paced for fourth after sitting third in the run. The three-year-old has given a decent sight in both starts but is still a work in progress. Favourite Blazing Wukong ran on steadily for fifth after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield. It was still a nice effort carrying more weight after a debut win.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (771) - DIAMOND HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 BLAZING WIND (J157) C L Chau Jumped only fairly.

Near the 550 Metres was momentarily crowded by JUICY DRAGON which shifted in and away from INVICTUS DRAGON when racing greenly.

Between the 400 Metres and the 350 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of FLOWING RICHES.

Horse No 2 BLAZING WUKONG (K335) A Atzeni Near the 500 Metres shifted out to improve and made contact with VOYAGE BOSS.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 TOP THRONE (K116) Z Purton After the event Z Purton stated that his mount made a respiratory noise during the running of the race and gave ground when under pressure in the Home Straight.

Trainer D A Hayes stated that from a wide barrier and with blinkers being applied for the first time he had instructed Jockey Purton to take up a forward position.

He added as a result Jockey Purton was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to comply with the instructions and as a result the horse was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

As this was the second occasion that TOP THRONE had raced in a disappointing manner, the horse will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 4 VOYAGE BOSS (K321) K C Leung Jumped awkwardly.

Near the 500 Metres was bumped and taken wider by BLAZING WUKONG which shifted out to improve.
