Recap by phillip woo

Another Zonda settled in the box seat before assuming the lead 700m and pinching a break for a second win and first in the grade from 10 starts. Romantic Laos ran on well for second after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He rarely produces a bad run over this Valley trip. Harmony Galaxy stayed on for third after a one-off trip from midfield. It was an improved effort at his second straight Class Three run following back-to-back wins over the Valley 1,800m. Sturdy Ruby ran on late for fourth without threatening the first three after making his run fourth last despite gate one. He has not produced a bad run in six straight Class Threes. Favourite Stellar Swift ran on steadily for fifth after making his run behind midfield on the fence. He has picked up minor prize money in four of his past five runs but does appear to be on his mark. Aestheticism ran on without threatening after making his run one from the rear. Sky Trust didn't have much to offer in the straight run after landing a spot on the back of the leader and well-backed Outgate from gate 11. He wasn't suited by the quick tempo.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (785) - RENFREW HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 SKY TRUST (J161) H Bentley Trainer C Fownes confirmed that from a wide barrier and an expected lack of early pace he instructed H Bentley to go forward.

After the event H Bentley stated that his mount raced keenly in the early stages and then did not run on in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 2 A AMERIC TE SPECSO (H037) J Orman Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between SKY TRUST which shifted in slightly and KOLACHI which was taken out by HAMERON.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 OUTGATE (H113) Y L Chung After the event Y L Chung stated that the instructions were to lead but after obtaining the lead in the early stages his mount was then pressured when ANOTHER ZONDA improved to its outside from the 900 Metres.

He said as a result OUTGATE was unable to finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 ROMANTIC LAOS (G476) Z Purton Approaching the 300 Metres was bumped by STELLA SWIFT which shifted out.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 STELLAR SWIFT (J139) H Bowman Bumped near the 300 Metres.

Approaching the 600 Metres STELLAR SWIFT (H Bowman) and ROMANTIC LAOS (Z Purton) contested a position to the outside of OSI HONOUR which was commencing to give ground, resulting in STELLAR SWIFT and ROMANTIC LAOS making contact for some distance thereafter and STELLAR SWIFT then crowded for room to the inside of ROMANTIC LAOS.

Z Purton was reprimanded and advised that on this occasion he should have relieved the pressure being placed on STELLAR SWIFT sooner than what he did.

H Bowman was also interviewed in relation to his left arm extending from his body.

He stated that as he was required to place pressure on his right rein to prevent his mount being taken in, this resulted in his left elbow extending away from his body.

After considering the evidence and in particular the evidence of Jockey Purton who said he did not feel any contact from Jockey Bowman's elbow in this incident the Stewards took no direct action, however, Jockey Bowman was advised that, wherever possible, he should endure that his arms remain in the confines of his body.

Noted to be making a respiratory noise after the race.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 OSI HONOUR (K232) A Hamelin The performance of OSI HONOUR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, OSI HONOUR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 10 KOLACHI (J395) K De Melo Crowded shortly after the start.

Near the 300 Metres was eased when disappointed for clear running between SKY TRUST and HARMONY GALAXY which shifted in.

Horse No 12 ANOTHER ZONDA (K176) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.
