Race Six : (813) - THE CHAN TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 CALIFORNIA BAY (K364) Y L Chung Leaving the 200 Metres improved into a narrow run between COLOURFUL WINNER and AEROINVINCIBLE.
Near the 100 Metres raced tight between AEROINVINCIBLE and COLOURFUL WINNER.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 AEROINVINCIBLE (J180) J Orman In the early and middle stages raced keenly.
For some distance leaving the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid COLOURFUL WINNER.
Near the 100 Metres was steadied when crowded between CALIFORNIA BAY which was taken out slightly by COLOURFUL WINNER and ENDUED which shifted in.
Horse No 3 FORERUNNER (G465) C L Chau Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Horse No 4 ENDUED (K033) H Bowman Knuckled over on jumping.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 MAGIC COSMOS (J411) K De Melo From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 6 STRANGE ALERT (K278) A Atzeni Near the 450 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of FORERUNNER.
Leaving the 200 Metres improved to the inside of CALIFORNIA BAY and became held up behind COLOURFUL WINNER and was steadied to avoid that runner.
As a result STRANGE ALERT did not obtain clear running until near the 100 Metres when it shifted to the inside of COLOURFUL WINNER to obtain a narrow run to that horse's inside.
Horse No 7 AMAZING DUCK (H392) M F Poon Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
After the event M F Poon stated that his mount raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result gave ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 RATTAN GALAXY (K143) K C Leung Bumped shortly after the start.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 10 LUCKY MAN (J315) K Teetan On jumping was crowded between CHAMPION METHOD and AMAZING DUCK which shifted in.
In the middle stages raced keenly.
Approaching the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid AEROINVINCIBLE.
Near the 250 Metres was hampered when taken wider by FORERUNNER which shifted out.
Horse No 12 COLOURFUL WINNER (J312) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 14 DRAGON SUNRISE (J269) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly, resulting in its rider M L Yeung becoming unbalanced.

Following a one-off trip from midfield, Endued edged clear after hitting the front 100m out for a first win at his 11th local start. It was not a surprise after filling the frame in his past two starts. Colourful Winner found one too good after assuming the lead 350m out following a speed-tracking run outside Champion Method from gate 11. He's a winner waiting to happen with placings in three consecutive runs. Forerunner ran on well to just get the bob down for third after a rails run from just worse than midfield. He's honest and was able to back up a last-start second when trying the Valley 1,650m. California Bay just failed to place after getting all the favours in the box seat. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Lucky Man made good ground late after making his run one off from behind midfield. It was an encouraging run with a return to Class Four.
