Punted late Notthesillyone had a prominent run on the fence and got the better of Ace Talent 50m out for a maiden win at his 10th start. He took advantage of gate two after failing in his last three runs from outside draws at this level. Favourite Ace Talent found one just too good after dictating the run from gate three. He's as honest as the day is long over the Valley 1,000m. Modest Gentlemen ran on strongly along the inside for third after making his run at the rear from gate nine. He has been a good money spinner without winning this season. Glorious Expert ran on well through the centre for fourth after a one-off trip from midfield. He's run well in back-to-back starts for his new trainer. Double Show made inroads late near the outside for fifth after a wide without cover trip from behind midfield. Colonel was next best after rolling forward three wide to track the pace from gate 11. He's in the right grade but is better suited over 1,200m. You'remyeverything ran on without threatening after making his run five back and one off the fence following a sluggish start. He prefers 1,200m.

Race One : (819) - HAWTHORN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 COLONEL (D090) E C W Wong After the event Apprentice E C W Wong stated that from a wide barrier the instructions were to take up a forward position.

Noted to have sustained a small abrasion to the left hind leg after the race.

Horse No 2 NOBLE GO (K053) Z Purton Approaching the 150 Metres was disappointed for clear running between HAPPY TANGO and COLONEL and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish of the event when held up behind COLONEL and NOTTHESILLYONE.

Horse No 3 KA YING POWER (H169) M F Poon Bumped soon after the start.

Near the 200 Metres was eased to avoid YOU'REMYEVERYTHING (K C Leung) which shifted out when not quite clear.

K C Leung was advised to exercise more care.

After the event M F Poon stated that his mount would appreciate being stepped up in distance for its next race start.

Horse No 4 NOTTHESILLYONE (J383) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

Over the concluding stages was bumped by ACE TALENT which shifted out.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 SUPER ELITE (H247) K De Melo From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 6 MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) A Atzeni From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 250 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind NOBLE GO.

Horse No 7 SO AWESOME (D258) M Chadwick In the early stages raced keenly and approaching the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid GLORIOUS EXPERT.

Leaving the 200 Metres shifted out and away from YOU'REMYEVERYTHING.

After the event M Chadwick stated that his mount finished the race off reasonably well and he was not too disappointed with its performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 YOU'REMYEVERYTHING (E413) K C Leung Jumped only fairly.

When questioned K C Leung stated that after the 300 Metres his intention was to improve between NOBLE GO and HAPPY TANGO but when that run did not develop he then elected to shift to the outside of HAPPY TANGO to endeavour to improve to that runner's outside.

He added when he was of the opinion there was not sufficient room to improve between HAPPY TANGO and GLORIOUS EXPERT, he then shifted to the outside of GLORIOUS EXPERT and DOUBLE SHOW to obtain clear running and as a result YOU'REMYEVERYTHING was held up for clear running between the 250 Metres and approaching the 100 Metres.

Horse No 9 GLORIOUS EXPERT (J028) H Bentley Raced keenly in the early stages.

Horse No 11 ACE TALENT (H046) K Teetan Bumped soon after the start.

Shifted out over the concluding stages and made contact with NOTTHESILLYONE.

Sent for sampling post-race.
