Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (820) - MAGNOLIA HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 GOR MO TUEN (J434) C L Chau Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 2 CERVIN (H253) K De Melo Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 3 COURIER MAGIC (H290) E C W Wong Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start bumped with GOR MO TUEN.
As a result COURIER MAGIC was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Held up for clear running on the Home Turn and near the 300 Metres was shifted to the outside of CERVIN to obtain clear running.
Horse No 4 WINDICATOR FAMILY (H419) M F Poon Near the 600 Metres made contact with ESCAPE ROUTE when those runners contested a position behind CERVIN.
Horse No 5 ESCAPE ROUTE (E273) Z Purton Near the 600 Metres made contact with WINDICATOR FAMILY when those runners contested a position behind CERVIN.
After the event Z Purton reported that his mount hung out and was difficult to control during the race.
He said when he was concerned there was something amiss with ESCAPE ROUTE on entering the Home Straight he eased it down from the event.
Trainer J Size stated that he was pleased with the horse leading into the race and he could offer no explanation for the horse's racing manners or performance.
He added that the horse would not race for the remainder of the season.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of ESCAPE ROUTE was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, ESCAPE ROUTE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 9 YEABOI (G372) Y L Chung Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 10 TRADITION (J111) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 11 MEDIC ELITE (G129) A Atzeni Bumped shortly after the start.
After the event A Atzeni reported that his intention was to hold a more forward position but MEDIC ELITE did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so.
Horse No 12 BEAU GOSSE (G389) K Teetan After the event K Teetan reported that over the concluding stages he momentarily lost control of his whip.

Shinkansen led from gate four and pulled out all the stops to just get home in front of Foremost Teddy for a second win from 26 starts. He was able to build on a front-running sixth following a downgrade last start over yesterday's Valley 1,650m. Sensationally backed to jump favourite Foremost Teddy could not get past the winner after getting all the favours following a box-seat run. He's very honest without winning over the Valley 1,650m. Courier Magic ran on nicely to grab third after making his run three from the rear. He's a winner waiting to happen at this level. Early favourite Windicator Family ran on steadily for fourth aftermaking his run one off from better than midfield. It was another honest performance. Beau Gosse gradually faded after a speed tracking run from gate five. Off a mark of 20, he may have had his last run in Hong Kong. Tradition just held his ground after a rails run from midfield. He's limited. Yeaboi got going late when the race was all but over after making his run two from the rear. It was a decent effort following a stable change.
