Racing Incident Report
Race Ten : (54) - HWAMEI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 YOUNG ACHIEVER (J291) H Bowman Noted to have blood at the left nostril on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found suitable to race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination revealed that the blood was emanating from the nose and not the lungs and as such the horse was deemed not to have bled.
Horse No 2 BEAUTY CRESCENT (H334) Y L Chung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 FLYING FORTRESS (J445) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
When questioned H Bentley stated that after being crossed by SOUTH STAR when the pace of the race eased his mount commenced to race keenly and was checked to avoid SOUTH STAR near the 1100 Metres.
He added that in this incident FLYING FORTRESS struck the heels of SOUTH STAR.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 GHORGAN (K199) J Orman Raced keenly in the early stages and got its head up when being steadied to avoid DRAGON JOY near the 1000 Metres.
GHORGAN continued to race keenly and near the 750 Metres was steadied away from DRAGON JOY.
Had some difficulty obtaining clear running leaving the 350 Metres.
Horse No 5 ARMOUR WAR EAGLE (J039) B Avdulla In the early stages raced keenly and leaving the 1100 Metres was steadied away from FLYING FORTRESS.
Again approaching the 900 Metres ARMOUR WAR EAGLE was steadied when positioned close to GHORGAN.
After the event B Avdulla reported that his mount raced too keenly in the early and middle stages, particularly when the pace steadied leaving the 1100 Metres.
He added that, in this opinion, this was the principal reason that ARMOUR WAR EAGLE finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 REFUSETOBEENGLISH (K362) C Y Ho Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 7 SOUTH STAR (K153) Z Purton When questioned Z Purton stated that in the early stages he endeavoured to obtain a position with cover behind DRAGON JOY.
He said when the pace of the event eased leaving the 1100 Metres he was unable to obtain cover and when SOUTH STAR then commenced to race keenly he allowed it to stride forward and race outside the leader BEAUTY CRESCENT.
Noted to have lost its right hind plate and sustained minor abrasions to the right hind leg after the race.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 SPIRIT OF PEACE (K007) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly.
Leaving the 800 Metres was steadied to avoid TOP TIME which gave ground when positioned close to COPARTNER FLEET.
Horse No 10 FAMILY KNIGHT (K490) L Hewitson Raced keenly in the early stages.
Horse No 12 WE CAN PARTY (J341) D Probert Slow to begin.
Horse No 13 SUPREME MASTERMIND (K387) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly.

Beauty Crescent pinged straight to the front and would not relinquish the lead after getting hounded by late-plunged favourite South Star 800m out, ringing up a third straight win. South Star could not peg back the winner after pushing forward three wide to prompt the pace 800m out. It was a good effort after winning two of seven runs last term. Early favourite Top Time ran on steadily along the inside for third without threatening the top two after a rails run from midfield. It was encouraging run up in class off a lighter weight. Dragon Joy stayed on fourth best after a prominent run. It was a return to form. Copartner Fleet just plugged on one-paced after chasing the speed on the fence. The step up to 1,400m was too far for his liking.
