Race Nine : (131) - TECHNICS HEADPHONES HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
Horse No 2 FAST RESPONDER (J295) H Bowman Passing the 200 Metres H Bowman fumbled with his whip for a number of strides before being able to regather it.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 METRO POWER (K408) Z Purton Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced.
Z Purton stated that his mount gave ground over the final 200 Metres and he could offer no explanation for its disappointing performance.

Horse No 5 SUNNY DA BEST (J118) L Ferraris Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.
Horse No 7 STORMY GROVE (K478) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Approaching the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Horse No 9 CHILL BUDDY (K469) A Atzeni On jumping shifted in and made heavy contact with the right side of the starting gate, resulting in its rider A Atzeni becoming unbalanced and being dislodged.
The barrier manners of CHILL BUDDY were considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, CHILL BUDDY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
Subsequently it was determined that A Atzeni was not suitable to fulfil his remaining riding engagement and permission was given for H Bentley to be substituted as the rider of ARMOUR WAR EAGLE in Race
10.
Horse No 10 ALPHA STRIKE (L019) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 ALSONSO (J405) B Avdulla Blundered on jumping.
Horse No 12 SUPERB KING (K479) K De Melo Shifted in on jumping, was bumped and became unbalanced.
Horse No 13 QUICK MONEY (K377) K Teetan Near the 500 Metres was steadied to avoid ALSONSO (B Avdulla) which shifted out to obtain a position on the running rail.
B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 14 SPARKLING FELLOW (K175) A Badel Bumped at the start.
A Badel was fined the sum of $5,000 for breaching Rule 100(3)(ii)(f) in that he used his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion near the 150 Metres.
Near the 100 Metres A Badel dropped his whip.
Sent for sampling post-race.

Firming favourite Alpha Strike led from gate nine and kept on gamely to just beat Sparkling Fellow to win his local debut. He lived up to his trials and has a nice future in Hong Kong. Sparkling Fellow ran on nicely through the centre for second from behind midfield. It was a solid run after a 140-day break. Casa Of Honor grudgingly gave way after prompting the pace from gate six. He's given a good sight in both starts this term. Sunny Da Best ran on well for fourth on the far side after making his run towards the rear from gate one. It was a good effort at his first start following a heart irregularity in July. Alsonso kept on one paced after a handy run near the grandstand side. Stormy Grove made some ground through the centre from midfield. It was an okay effort on his local debut. Wonderstar was stopping 100m out after prompting the pace from a low draw. He couldn't cope carrying 17lb more following a win.
