Racing Incident Report
Race Nine : (168) - NEOGENCE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 JUNEAU PRIDE (J443) B Avdulla B Avdulla reported that he was instructed not to make too much use of the horse in the early stages to ensure it was able to finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.
He said when JUNEAU PRIDE jumped only fairly it did not show early pace, particularly with the hood being applied for the first time and as a result he elected to ride JUNEAU PRIDE conservatively in the early stages.
Trainer J Size confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 2 LITTLE PARADISE (K246) Z Purton Approaching the first turn near the 900 Metres raced keenly and got its head up when being eased to obtain a position with cover behind PRAY FOR JUSTICE.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 THE BOOM BOX (K076) C Y Ho In the middle stages raced keenly and near the 900 Metres was steadied away from NOVA KNIGHT.
C Y Ho reported that his mount was out-paced in the early stages but responded reasonably well to his riding in the Home Straight and he recommended that the horse should be stepped up in distance for its next race start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 ANODE (K367) R Kingscote Near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid LITTLE PARADISE.
R Kingscote reported that his mount raced keenly during the race and was obliged to race wide and without cover from the 900 Metres before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 LUCY IN THE SKY (J275) H Bowman Bumped at the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 PANACEA (K256) E C W Wong Apprentice E C W Wong reported that his mount raced keenly during the race and near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid ANODE.
He said as a result PANACEA was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.
Horse No 8 WIN EASE (K384) L Hewitson From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 11 TIN FOOK (K167) K Teetan Over the final 100 Metres raced tight to the inside of LUCY IN THE SKY when improving to the inside of that runner.
Horse No 14 THRIVING BROTHERS (J396) M Chadwick Bumped at the start.

Thriving Brothers had a rails run on the leader's back from gate 10 and after peeling out for a run 300m out, he just got up in the concluding stages for a second win at his 14th start. Lucky In The Sky wouldn't go down without a fight after clearing to lead 1,100m out from gate 11. He appreciated the return to turf after misfiring nine days ago when trying dirt. Favourite Little Paradise made ground late to just miss second after covering a bit of ground early on from better than midfield. He was carrying 8lb more after a win over a shorter 1,200m trip. Tin Fook kept grinding away for fourth after a change in tactics to sit handy on the fence. He's run well in all three starts this term. Pray For Justice stayed on okya for fifth after sitting third and one off the fence from gate seven. It was a positive debut effort in Hong Kong. Punted late Lucky Sam Gor was doing his best work late after making his run two from the rear. It wasn't a bad effort up in grade.
