Recap by phillip woo

Cool Boy was wide with cover travelling behind midfield from gate 14 and quickened nicely to take control 80m out for a maiden win at his second start. Lucky McQueen found one too good after hitting the lead 180m out following a wide and with cover trip from midfield. He's a winner in waiting. Packing Phoenix just got up for third after getting held up between the 400m and 250m following a box-seat run. He ran another good race. Speedy Smartie grudgingly gave way after a speed-tracking run outside favourite Majestic Valour. It was another nice effort. Voyage Boss ran on steadily for fifth prize money after a one-off trip from midfield. It was another honest effort. Vulcanus ran on nicely to just miss fourth prize money after a patient ride third last from gate 14. It wasn't a bad effort. Favourite Majestic Valour didn't find much when push came to shove after dictating the run from gate seven. He couldn't lift carrying 8lb more.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (256) - SILENT WITNESS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 MAJESTIC VALOUR (L016) R Moore R Moore stated that his mount could not quicken when placed under pressure in the Home Straight and, in his view, may be better suited racing at a more genuine tempo.

Trainer P C Ng concurred with the views expressed by Jockey Moore.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 PACKING PHOENIX (K442) Z Purton Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running behind SPEEDY SMARTIE.

After improving to the inside of SPEEDY SMARTIE approaching the 200 Metres PACKING PHOENIX then lay out as it was reluctant to improve between MAJESTIC VALOUR and SPEEDY SMARTIE.

Horse No 4 VOYAGE BOSS (K321) K C Leung Stumbled when being loaded into the starting gates, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

On jumping became unbalanced when crowded between ZEPHYR and STORMY KNIGHT, both of which shifted ground.

K C Leung reported that as a consequence VOYAGE BOSS settled further back in the field than intended.

Horse No 6 JUBILANT STAR (K410) J McDonald J McDonald stated that with his mount settling back in the field it found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight due to the early stages of the event being run outside of standard time.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 AQUAMAN (K523) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 8 COOL BOY (L014) J Orman Near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid LUCKY MCQUEEN when racing keenly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 MONTA FRUTTA (H455) Y L Chung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

In the middle stages raced keenly and near the 800 Metres was steadied to avoid VOYAGE BOSS.

Again near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid VOYAGE BOSS.

Between the 400 Metres and 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind STORMY KNIGHT.

Horse No 10 STORMY KNIGHT (L062) H Bowman When questioned H Bowman stated that his mount, which was having its first race start, was reluctant to race amongst other horses.

He said near the 300 Metres he improved into a narrow run between ZEPHYR and VOYAGE BOSS after which his mount would not continue to improve between those runners.

He said whilst he was obliged to steady his mount near the 200 Metres when ZEPHYR and VOYAGE BOSS (K C Leung) shifted ground, he felt the racing manners of his horse was the principal reason for it having to be steadied.

Notwithstanding this evidence, Jockey Leung was reprimanded and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground whilst not clear.

Horse No 11 ZEPHYR (K414) L Hewitson On jumping was bumped.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 12 WINNING DIAMOND (K216) U Rispoli After travelling a short distance was eased when racing tight to the inside of COOL BOY.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

U Rispoli was issued with a warning for using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height near the 250 Metres.

Horse No 14 LUCKY MCQUEEN (K064) M Chadwick Had its right front plate refitted at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No MABUBU (K586) C Y Ho Withdrawn on 13.12.25 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (irregular heart rhythm) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter VULCAUS.

Before being allowed to race again, MABUBU will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
