Recap by phillip woo

Macanese Master just held off Island Breezes after leading 150m out following a speed-tracking run from gate two for a first win at his 14th local start. It was clearly his best run to date at his first time of asking over the Valley 1,000m. Island Breezes make it very close on the wire with a bold move along the inside after biding his time second last from gate six. He's caught the eye in back-to-back runs following a downgrade. Posttime favourite Oriental Surprise ran on nicely through the centre to finish a close third after a rails run from midfield. He can bob up at any moment. Early favourite Sky Song had his chance but whacked on a non-threatening fourth after a box-seat run. It was an OK effort following a second last start. Noble Deluxe ran on steadily to just miss fourth after a one-off trip from midfield. Modest Gentleman ran on late to finish next best after biding his time third last from gate 11. Happy Horse was coming back to the field 100m out after clearing to lead from gate 10. He's more effective from an inside draw. Glorious Expert kept on all right after a wide trip without cover from midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (265) - ROBIN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 ISLAND BREEZES (J479) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly.

L Ferraris was reprimanded for using the whip forward of the saddle in a forehand manner on one occasion near the 100 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 SKY SONG (J159) H Bowman Near the 400 Metres was steadied when awkwardly placed between HAPPY HORSE and MACANESE MASTER.

Horse No 3 ORIENTAL SURPRISE (K028) J McDonald Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 HAPPY HORSE (H061) H Doyle Jumped awkwardly.

Passing the 50 Metres was eased when awkwardly placed to the inside of MACANESE MASTER.

A short distance later shifted out and made contact with MODEST GENTLEMAN.

Horse No 5 NOBLE DELUXE (K052) A Atzeni Near the 350 Metres made contact with COLONEL when racing tight between ORIENTAL SURPRISE and COLONEL.

Horse No 6 SPORTIC WARRIOR (J385) H T Mo Slow to begin.

Horse No 7 COLONEL (D090) M F Poon Near the 350 Metres was bumped.

M F Poon stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover and in addition would be better suited by being stepped up in distance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Bumped passing the 50 Metres.

Horse No 9 CAMP FIRE (J259) D Probert In the early stages of the Home Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride.

D Probert reported that the instructions from the outside barrier were to ride the horse with cover.

He said in the early stages CAMP FIRE raced keenly and refused to settle and near the 800 Metres got its head up when being checked away from GLORIOUS EXPERT.

Trainer D J Whyte confirmed the instructions issued and stated that at its last start it had not been the intention to lead, however, on that occasion CAMP FIRE jumped well and was able to lead the event contrary to the instructions he had issued.

Horse No 10 SUPER ELITE (H247) L Hewitson L Hewitson could offer no explanation for his mount's failure to run on in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 GLORIOUS EXPERT (J028) H Bentley Briefly held up on the Home Turn.

Horse No 12 MACANESE MASTER (J532) Y L Chung When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer Y S Tsui stated that the horse was advantaged tonight by drawing an inside barrier as compared to its previous four race starts where it was drawn barrier

12.

He said after the horse's last run on 2 November 2025 where it was obliged to race wide and without cover he gave the horse a short let-up and this, in his opinion, also contributed to its improved performance tonight.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No HANDSOME BLOND (K241) Y L Chung HANDSOME BLOND, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 16.12.25 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind).

Before being allowed to race again, HANDSOME BLOND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
