Race Four : (267) - LARK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 TOP TIME (K006) Z Purton Held up on the Home Turn.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 GLORIOUS JOURNEY (J137) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between MADE FOR LIFE and SMART CITY, both of which shifted ground.
Held up for clear running on the Home Turn.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 COLOURFUL KNIGHT (K366) Y L Chung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 FIGHTING MACHINE (J015) M Guyon In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1200 Metres got its head up.
Leaving the 150 Metres shifted in, resulting in its rider M Guyon having to stop riding and straighten his mount.
Horse No 5 MADE FOR LIFE (L005) B Avdulla On jumping bumped with UP WITH CHARM and shortly after shifted in and made contact with GLORIOUS JOURNEY.
Horse No 6 CALIFORNIA MOXIE (J131) H Bowman Leaving the 700 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from FIGHTING MACHINE and made contact with METAL KING.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 UP WITH CHARM (K139) K C Leung Bumped at the start.
K C Leung reported that the instructions were to obtain a forward position but not necessarily lead.
He said when the early and middle stages of the race were run outside of standard time, this resulted in UP WITH CHARM leading the event.
Horse No 8 SMART CITY (J213) H Doyle Near the 1300 Metres was steadied to avoid MADE FOR LIFE (B Avdulla) which shifted in when not clear.
B Avdulla was reprimanded.
Near the 150 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between METAL KING and MADE FOR LIFE which, after shifting to the outside of ICONICAL, was then taken out slightly by that runner.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 SUPERB GUY (K323) C L Chau Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 11 HAPPY ACTION (K399) M L Yeung Leaving the 200 Metres shifted in abruptly away from SUPERB GUY, resulting in its rider M L Yeung having to stop riding and straighten his mount.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 METAL KING (K135) M F Poon Raced ungenerously when being shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier in the early stages.
Made a forward move from the 800 Metres and as a consequence raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the event.
Leaving the 700 Metres was bumped by CALIFORNIA MOXIE which shifted out.
Leaving the 100 Metres raced tight between FIGHTING MACHINE and MADE FOR LIFE which shifted out.

California Moxie quickened brilliantly near the outside from third last to win going away 60m out a third win over the Valley 1,650m from 22 starts. Glorious Journey rushed home late down the outside for second after biding his time two from the rear. It was another good run carrying 7lb more following a win. Superb Guy stayed on well for third near the inside after turning the final bend three back on the fence. It was a good effort at his first start over the Valley 1,650m after placing two runs back over 1,400m. Fighting Machine ran on well to just miss a placing after a wide trip with cover from behind midfield. It was his best effort from five starts this term but is a well-rated runner. Favourite Top Time just missed fourth prize money after getting held up for a run between the 400m and 150m following a patient ride fourth last along the inside. He should have finished closer. Iconical gradually faded after a speed-tracking run from gate seven. Firming late in betting, Made For Life just held his ground after a prominent run one off the fence.
