Recap by phillip woo

In a race run to suit those on the speed, Amazing Kid sat in the box seat from gate one before poking his head in front 50m out and scrambling in. It was clearly his best run from eight starts. Well backed Meowth came up a head short after a prominent run wide and without cover from gate 12. It was a fine effort carrying 7lb more following a win. Run Run Smart was touched off late after dictating the run from gate seven. He's held his form well in back-to-back runs following a win. The Perfect Match got going late down the outside for fourth after making his run third last from gate 10. It was another honest performance. Warriors Dream wove a run for fifth after a rails run from midfield. It was another positive showing following a stable change after an improved fifth last start over the Valley 1,000m. Exceed The Wish just held his ground after a one-off trip from midfield. Day Day Victory made good ground late down the outside after making his run at the rear from gate 11. He wasn't suited by the race tempo. Goko Win made only a mild bid after a wide trip traveling fourth from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (270) - ALBATROSS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 DAY DAY VICTORY (J423) L Ferraris In the middle stages raced keenly and near the 750 Metres was steadied away from THE PERFECT MATCH.

L Ferraris stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages, similar to the manner in which it has been ridden from wide barriers in the past on the turf.

Horse No 2 GOKO WIN (H069) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

Approaching the 1000 Metres was checked when crowded by EXCEED THE WISH which was taken in by MEOWTH (C L Chau).

C L Chau was severely reprimanded and advised he must ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside.

In considering the incident the Stewards took into account the evidence of Jockey H Bowman who said that when his mount commenced to be crowded for room it hung out across the heels of EXCEED THE WISH and contributed to the interference.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 MEOWTH (J487) C L Chau Kicked a rail whilst parading, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 BIG RETURN (K192) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.

Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the 150 Metres was eased when disappointed for clear running between SOMELOVEFROMABOVE and GOKO WIN which shifted in slightly.

Z Purton reported that his mount raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages of the event and refused to settle.

He added that when GOKO WIN lost ground near the 1000 Metres BIG RETURN became badly unbalanced when being severely checked to avoid GOKO WIN.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
