Race Six : (278) - ERICA HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 SUPER LOVE (K118) H Bowman Blundered on jumping.
From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
For a short distance near the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run between BRIGHT DAY and YOUNG HORIZON.
Horse No 2 BRIGHT DAY (J530) J Orman Near the 500 Metres was hampered when taken wider by NYX GLUCK which shifted out to improve.
Bumped near the 350 Metres.
Horse No 3 CALIFORNIA BAY (K364) M Chadwick M Chadwick reported that with the early and middle stages of the event being run inside of standard time his mount did not appreciate being taken on by PACKING KING in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 BULL ATTITUDE (K305) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly and then was crowded between GALLANT EPOCH and PACKING KING.
Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.
Horse No 5 EXCELLENT BOY (K435) R Kingscote Shortly after the start made contact with ACE which shifted out slightly, resulting in EXCELLENT BOY becoming unbalanced.
Horse No 7 NYX GLUCK (K438) J McDonald Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 RAGING RAPIDS (J228) B Avdulla Bumped shortly after the start.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 12 ACE (K307) H Doyle Bumped shortly after the start.
Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to GALLANT EPOCH.
Horse No 13 FIGHT TIME (H409) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly and became unbalanced.

Near the 350 Metres made contact with BRIGHT DAY when improving into a tight run between BRIGHT DAY and NYX GLUCK.

Favourite Nyx Gluck travelled prominently on the fence from gate one and burst clear after leading 150m out for a first win at his fourth start. The win was overdue after catching the eye in two prior starts. Gallant Epoch kept on gamely for second after leading 300m out following a one-off trip settling third from gate seven. He's run well both times over 1,400m from three starts this term. Young Horizon ran on nicely through the centre for third after a rails run from midfield. It was a good run. Raging Rapids ran on well with two wider out for fourth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was another honest run over 1,400m. Ace made ground late near the inside for fifth after a rails run from behind midfield. He's naturally coming to hand with each start. Bull Attitude was doing his best work late for sixth.
