Sensationally backed Aurora Patch had a prominent run on the inside from gate 10 and took control 80m out for a second win and first in this grade plus three seconds from five starts this term. He's much improved since joining the Manfred Man yard late last season. Igor Stravinsky kept on gamely for second after dictating the run from gate five. It was clearly his best effort from eight starts in Class Three. Loyal Bright stayed on for third after getting impeded slightly rounding the final bend following a handy run. It was a better effort at his second local start. Punted Galactic Voyage made good ground late near the inside to just miss a placing after a patient ride two from the rear. It was an encouraging first start in Hong Kong. Favourite Akashvani stayed on well for fifth after getting hampered rounding the final bend following a one-off trip from midfield. Celestial Patch made some ground without threatening after a rail run from midfield.

Horse No 2 LIFELINE EXPRESS (H439) B Avdulla B Avdulla stated that, in his opinion, the horse would derive a fitness benefit from today's performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 AKASHVANI (K234) Z Purton Near the 500 Metres was severely checked and ran wide.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 NEW FUTURE FOLKS (J418) J McDonald Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Near the 500 Metres was checked to avoid AKASHVANI.

Near the 400 Metres was then steadied when disappointed for clear running between LIFELINE EXPRESS and AKASHVANI, both of which shifted ground.

Horse No 5 SUNNY DA BEST (J118) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.

Near the 500 Metres was severely checked and ran wide.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 GALACTIC VOYAGE (K514) C L Chau Jumped only fairly and then was steadied shortly after when crowded between ETERNAL RICHNESS and IGOR STRAVINSKY which shifted in slightly.

Horse No 9 AURORA PATCH (K097) M Chadwick Bumped at the start.

When questioned M Chadwick stated that throughout the middle stages his mount raced keenly and as a consequence was steadied away from ETERNAL RICHNESS.

He said near the 500 Metres AURORA PATCH became positioned too close to the heels of ETERNAL RICHNESS despite his efforts to maintain a safety distance behind that horse.

He said as a consequence AURORA PATCH blundered and shifted out abruptly, resulting in LOYAL BRIGHT being checked to avoid AURORA PATCH shifting out, resulting in AKASHVANI and SUNNY DA BEST being severely checked and running wide and also resulting in NEW FUTURE FOLKS being checked.

After considering the evidence the Stewards found the racing manners of AURORA PATCH was the principal reason for the horse shifting out near the 500 Metres.

A warning was placed on the racing manners of the horse.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 ETERNAL RICHNESS (K557) M F Poon M F Poon stated that in the Home Straight his mount did not fully stretch out and gave ground when under pressure.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 LUCKY SYMPHONY (J089) A Atzeni Withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore).

Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY SYMPHONY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.
