Recap by phillip woo

Mount Everest travelled five back on the rails and was held up between the 350m and 150m but quickened brilliantly to get up in the concluding stages for a second win from five starts. Master Phoenix ran on nicely widest out for second after finding a one-off spot travelling behind midfield from draw 14. He relished a return to Sha Tin. Cloud Nine succumbed late after dictating the run from gate 12. It was a solid run on debut. Outsider Dash stayed on well for fourth after a one-off trip from midfield. It was his best run from six starts. Brownneedsfurther ran on steadily for fifth after a rails run from midfield. He keeps promising without delivering. Gastronomique got going late for sixth after making his run two from the rear. Leading Agility just held his ground after a one-off trip from midfield. Packing Phoenix was disappointing after a perfect trip one off travelling fourth. He has proven very costly after a debut win at $1.50.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (297) - TAI LONG TSUI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 PACKING PHOENIX (K442) Z Purton Near the 1000 Metres was bumped by SKY CAP and became unbalanced.

Bumped near the 150 Metres.

When questioned Z Purton stated that after obtaining a trailing position behind the leaders he shifted his mount out near the 600 Metres to commence a forward move when it made contact with EMBRACE ABERDEEN.

He said PACKING PHOENIX failed to respond to his riding thereafter and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.

He added that whilst PACKING PHOENIX was held up at its previous race start in the early stages of the Home Straight, when asked for an effort thereafter, it also finished the race off only fairly on that occasion.

He said at its most recent starts and in track work the horse made a respiratory noise when under pressure.

Trainer K W Lui stated that the horse had pleased him leading into today's race and an endoscopic examination performed on the horse did not reveal any abnormality.

He added that he could offer no explanation for PACKING PHOENIX failing to run on in the Home Straight today but would now consider dropping the horse back in distance to 1000 Metres for its next race start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of PACKING PHOENIX was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, PACKING PHOENIX will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 EMBRACE ABERDEEN (L020) M F Poon Near the 600 Metres was hampered when taken wider by PACKING PHOENIX which shifted to the outside of SKY CAP to improve.

Over the final 200 Metres lay in under pressure and near the 150 Metres made contact with PACKING PHOENIX.

M F Poon stated that after it had been obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event his mount was forced wider near the 600 Metres by PACKING PHOENIX.

He said as a consequence EMBRACE ABERDEEN found it difficult to finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 SKY CAP (K125) E C W Wong Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with WHOWROTETHATSONG.

In the early stages lay in and near the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid CLOUD NINE.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 MOUNT EVEREST (K237) M L Yeung Bumped at the start.

After travelling a short distance was steadied to avoid PACKING PHOENIX which shifted out slightly.

Between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running.

When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer W Y So stated that after racing first up on 9 November 2025 the horse today was advantaged by an inside barrier and enjoying a better run during the race which allowed it to finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 MASTER PHOENIX (J516) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 FLYING CHRISTIE (K483) R Kingscote Jumped awkwardly.

R Kingscote reported that his mount raced keenly throughout the event.

Near the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid MASTER PHOENIX (C Y Ho) which shifted in when not quite clear.

C Y Ho was advised to exercise more care.

FLYING CHRISTIE then continued to race ungenerously for some distance thereafter.

Horse No 8 GRAND MASTERMIND (L084) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 LEADING AGILITY (K553) M Chadwick Near the 1000 Metres SKY CAP hung in and away from CLOUD NINE (L Ferraris) when that runner shifted in when not clear.

As a consequence SKY CAP made contact with PACKING PHOENIX, resulting in PACKING PHOENIX shifting in and bumping heavily with LEADING AGILITY, causing LEADING AGILITY to become unbalanced.

L Ferraris was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is two lengths clear when shifting ground.

Horse No 10 THE COSMIC POWER (L064) H T Mo Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 11 WHOWROTETHATSONG (L048) Y L Chung Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by SKY CAP which jumped awkwardly and shifted in.
