Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (758) - UNIVERSITY HALL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Meters
Horse No 1 HAPPY UNIVERSE (J533) K C Leung Bumped shortly after the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 ALLCASH (K190) H Bowman H Bowman stated that his mount anticipated the start and as a result jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with CHARITY GAIN.
He said in the early stages he rode his mount along to endeavour to hold a more forward position but ALLCASH did not respond to his efforts to do so and as a result settled back in the field.
He said ALLCASH did not appreciate racing on the "Wet Slow" track conditions and in particular due to the kickback.
He added that for some distance approaching the 400 Metres ALLCASH was held up for clear running behind ARIEL but in the Home Straight did not respond to his riding.
Trainer C S Shum concurred with the views offered by Jockey Bowman.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of ALLCASH was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race start.
Before being allowed to race again, ALLCASH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 CHILL KAKA (J486) R Kingscote Bumped shortly after the start.
Near the 250 Metres R Kingscote dropped his whip.
Horse No 4 CHARITY GAIN (H431) J Orman Bumped at the start.
Horse No 6 CALIFORNIA STAR (J123) M Chadwick Slow to begin.
Horse No 7 JOLTIN (L186) M L Yeung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 BRIGHT INHERITANCE (J215) E Brown Jumped only fairly.
Near the 50 Metres became unbalanced when it shifted in and away from NORTHERN BEAST.
Horse No 10 ARIEL (G223) H Y Yuen A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 NIGHT PUROSANGUE (J510) K Teetan K Teetan reported that his mount did not appreciate the "Wet Slow" track conditions of the All Weather surface.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, NIGHT PUROSANGUE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 12 NORTHERN BEAST (H233) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by ARIEL (Apprentice H Y Yuen) which shifted in.
Apprentice Yuen was reprimanded.
Leaving the 50 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when improving to the inside of NIGHT PUROSANGUE which was giving ground.
Apprentice Yuen stated that her mount failed to travel at any stage of the event and raced in a disappointing manner.
Horse No 13 GLORIOUS ST PAUL'S (K524) M F Poon Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
Before being allowed to race again, GLORIOUS ST PAUL'S will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 14 LEAPING STAR (L189) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.

Outsider Leaping Star had a rails run in midfield and got up in the final few strides after a rails run from midfield for a maiden win at his 12th local start. It was clearly his best run to date at his initial start over the dirt 1,800m. Happy Universe did everything right but win after leading 200m out following a box-seat run. The 18lb swing in the weights between him and the winner was the difference. Chill Kaka stayed on for third after a handy run one off the fence. He was able to back up a second last start over the dirt 1,650m. Yoda's Choice succumbed late for fourth after dictating the pace as expected from gate four. It was another good effort carrying 16lb more following a win. Perfect Team ran on steadily to just miss fourth prize money following a one-off trip from behind midfield.
