Racing Incident Report
Race Four : (488) - NAM KOK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 NAMJONG KINGDOM (K015) H Bowman Eased near the 1100 Metres when crowded.
When giving ground near the 400 Metres was eased when momentarily crowded between GALLANT CROWN and BABY SATELLITE which shifted out and away from KINGLY DEMEANOR.
After the event, H Bowman stated that from a wide barrier he was given the option of obtaining a more forward position.
He said when NAMJONG KINGDOM commenced well he elected to allow that runner to stride forward and race towards the lead.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of NAMJONG KINGDOM was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, NAMJONG KINGDOM will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 2 FLYING LUCK (J339) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY LIVE (G057) A Badel A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 GALE SAGA (J152) R Kingscote After the event, R Kingscote stated that from a wide barrier his instructions were to ride his mount in a midfield position in the early stages.
He said from his wide barrier he was obliged to settle slightly further back to avoid racing wide.
Horse No 6 SMILING COLLECTOR (G128) H Bentley Bumped at the start.
Horse No 8 GALLANT CROWN (D359) E C W Wong M L Yeung (KINGLY DEMEANOR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of NAMJONG KINGDOM, resulting in NAMJONG KINGDOM being taken in and crowding GALLANT CROWN, resulting in GALLANT CROWN being checked away from the heels of NAMJONG KINGDOM.
M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 23 March 2025 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.
After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his instructions were to obtain cover.
He said his mount raced keenly in the early and middle stages before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT (J524) J Orman Near the 1100 Metres was steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of BEAUTY LIVE.
Horse No 11 KINGLY DEMEANOR (H486) M L Yeung M L Yeung pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 1100 Metres (see GALLANT CROWN).
After the event, M L Yeung reported that his mount, in his opinion, would be better suited by being dropped back to 1400 Metres for its next race start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 SWEET SMILE (J282) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.
Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race.
Before being allowed to race again, SWEET SMILE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 13 BEAUTIFUL WIN (J250) K De Melo Bumped at the start.
After the event, K De Melo reported that his mount raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.
Horse No 14 FIGHT TIME (H409) P N Wong Near the 500 Metres was bumped by GALLANT CROWN which shifted out to improve.
After the 200 Metres commenced to lay in, resulting in its rider Apprentice P N Wong changing her whip through to her right hand.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No HAPPY AGAIN (J117) M Chadwick Withdrawn on 8.3.25 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT.
Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY AGAIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 7 LITTLE SQUID (K050) D McDonogh Withdrawn on veterinary advice when it was found to be distressed prior to entering the Parade Ring.
Before being allowed to race again, LITTLE SQUID will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Flying Luck settled five back on the fence and came off the inside to chase down Fight Time 50m out for a second win from seven starts this term. He deserved that after placing in three of four prior starts. Punted late Fight Time found one just too good after hitting the front near the 200m following a wide without cover trip from midfield. It was his best effort from four 1,600m runs but he was a near winner two runs ago over 1,400m. Smiling Collector ran on nicely for third after straightening three from the rear. He isn't easy to get right but is capable on his day. Firming late in betting, Sweet Smile stayed on well for fourth after travelling three back on the fence. It was a pleasing effort wearing blinkers for the first time. Lucky Sam Gor stayed on nicely for fifth after getting posted four wide without cover travelling behind midfield for most of the race from gate 10. He had an excuse. Gale Saga ran on well for sixth after settling last from gate 11. He didn't fare too badly with a step up in distance after winning two runs ago over 1,400m.
