Race Three : (622) - FWD INSURANCE ICBC (ASIA) HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 SUPER EXPRESS (K245) J McDonald Near the 1000 Metres lay in and away from DO YOUR PART and as a result made contact with WIN SPEED.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 SUPER LOVE (K118) K Teetan After the event K Teetan reported that from the outside barrier his instructions were to obtain a midfield position.
He said when caught wide in the early stages he elected to come back and race at the tail of the field to avoid covering additional ground.
Horse No 3 RIDING TOGETHER (K081) A Atzeni Near the 950 Metres was eased when being crossed by DO YOUR PART.
Horse No 4 FORERUNNER (G465) C Williams H Bentley (BLAZING BEAM) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that leaving the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of PATCH OF STARS, resulting in PATCH OF STARS having to be steadied and taken in onto FORERUNNER, resulting in FORERUNNER being steadied and losing its rightful running.
H Bentley was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Saturday, 10 May 2025 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
Near the 300 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters by PANDA LEGEND.
Horse No 5 MONARCH COUNTY (J421) J Moreira Between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres was badly held up for clear running when unable to improve between DEVILDOM and GOLDEN DARCI.
Noted to have sustained abrasions to the right hind fetlock after the race.
Horse No 6 MONTA FRUTTA (H455) A Badel After the event A Badel stated that his instructions were to hold an on-pace position.
He added as a result when his mount jumped only fairly he was obliged to make use of it in the early stages to comply with his instructions, but when unable to obtain a position closer to the rail MONTA FRUTTA raced wide and without cover before giving ground in the Home Straight.
Trainer A S Cruz confirmed the instructions issued.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of MONTA FRUTTA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, MONTA FRUTTA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 7 BLAZING BEAM (K103) H Bentley H Bentley was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference leaving the 1100 Metres (see FORERUNNER).
Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind MONTA FRUTTA which was giving ground.
Horse No 8 DO YOUR PART (J444) L Ferraris After the event L Ferraris stated that whilst he had been instructed to hold a forward position he did not expect to lead.
He said when caught wide in the early stages he allowed DO YOUR PART to go forward and race in the lead to avoid covering additional ground.
Horse No 9 PATCH OF STARS (J343) Z Purton Crowded leaving the 1100 Metres.
Lay in under pressure in the Home Straight.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 ROMAN CROWN (J456) B Avdulla Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 11 WIN SPEED (J205) M Chadwick Near the 1000 Metres was bumped by SUPER EXPRESS.
Horse No 12 GOLDEN DARCI (H470) L Hewitson A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 13 DEVILDOM (H445) M L Yeung Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 14 PANDA LEGEND (H002) H T Mo Near the 350 Metres PANDA LEGEND (H T Mo) endeavoured to obtain a run between WIN SPEED and FORERUNNER when there was not sufficient room to do so, resulting in PANDA LEGEND having to be checked near the 300 Metres, shifting out and making contact with FORERUNNER.
H T Mo was reprimanded and advised he must ensure that there is comfortable racing room to improve into.

Patch Of Stars travelled wide with cover from behind midfield and closed off nicely to overhaul favourite Super Express in the final few metres for a maiden win at his fifth start. Super Express was collared late after moving to the lead 200m out tracking a quick pace from gate 11. It was a good run in defeat carrying top weight following a smart debut win. Monarch County came on nicely near the inside to finish a distant third after getting held up early in the straight following a patient ride one from the rear. It was a good run carrying more weight following a win. Riding Together kept on well for fourth after a prominent run on the fence. It was his best effort from six local runs following a downgrade. Do Your Part gradually faded after dictating the run from gate 12. He's shown a bit more spark in his past three of five starts following a downgrade. Super Love made ground late for sixth after making his run at the rear from gate 14. It wasn't a bad effort trying 1,400m for the first time following a rallying win and third.
