Recap by phillip woo

Hayday led from gate 10 and never looked back to salute at juicy odds for a second win with a return to the level of a Valley 1,200m win in February. He will likely find things tougher yet again next time out in Class Three. Vulcanus ran on nicely near the inside for second after a rails run from midfield. It was an improved effort on a non-threatening sixth last start when retrying the Valley 1,200m. Solar River kept on third best after sitting on the leader's back from gate two. He isn't far off a win with thirds in back-toback runs. Glory B just missed a placing after tracking the speed one off the fence. It was another honest performance. Swagger Bro was doing his best work late for fifth after making his run one from the rear. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Beauty Thunder battled away without menacing after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He couldn't back up a near win last start. Tactical Command came from last to finish next best. Great Spirit never landed a blow after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He appears from his past two starts to be on his mark following a win in March.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (675) - TIN SAU HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 HAYDAY (H321) M F Poon M F Poon was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference making the first turn near the 1000 Metres (see SOLAR RIVER).

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 SWEET BRIAR (H044) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly.

Horse No 3 SWAGGER BRO (K089) Z Purton On jumping was bumped by RUN YES RUN.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 4 GREAT SPIRIT (J155) A Atzeni Shortly after the start was crowded by SWEET BRIAR.

Approaching the 200 Metres was eased and shifted to the outside of SWEET BRIAR to continue into clear running.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 TACTICAL COMMAND (H197) A Badel In the early stages got its head up and raced ungenerously when being shifted across behind runners.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of A Badel, 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.

Horse No 6 BEAUTY THUNDER (J299) K C Leung Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind GLORY B.

Horse No 7 GLORY B (H373) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 JUDY'S GREAT (J016) L Ferraris On jumping was bumped by GREAT SPIRIT and became unbalanced.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 10 SOLAR RIVER (J308) A Hamelin Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start.

Was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Bumped at the start.

M F Poon (HAYDAY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that making the first turn near the 1000 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of SOLAR RIVER, resulting in SOLAR RIVER having to be checked to avoid HAYDAY.

M F Poon was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 at Happy Valley.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.

Horse No 11 VULCANUS (J150) K De Melo Bumped at the start.

Steadied to avoid SOLAR RIVER making the first turn.

Sent for sampling post-race.
