Race Six : (783) - HEREFORD HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 2 NEVER TOO SOON (E434) B Avdulla After the 300 Metres was steadied and shifted in to avoid SAVVY TWINKLE.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 LAHORE (K043) Z Purton A Badel (SAVVY TWINKLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he endeavoured to obtain a run between LAHORE and MEGA BONUS where there was not sufficient room to do so, resulting in SAVVY TWINKLE making heavy contact with LAHORE which became badly unbalanced and also resulting in SAVVY TWINKLE having to be checked when disappointed for clear running between MEGA BONUS and LAHORE and SAVVY TWINKLE then shifting in across the running of NEVER TOO SOON, resulting in NEVER TOO SOON having to be steadied to avoid SAVVY TWINKLE.
A Badel was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 16 July 2025 at Happy Valley.
In addition, Jockey Badel was fined $50,000.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 AMAZING KID (K434) B Thompson Bumped on jumping.
Horse No 5 CONRAD THE GREAT (K217) L Ferraris In the early stages raced keenly and got its head up.
Was left racing wide and without cover from the 800 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 BITS SUPERSTAR (J362) Y L Chung Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 8 SAVVY TWINKLE (K067) A Badel Bumped on jumping.
Near the 300 Metres was checked when disappointed for clear running between MEGA BONUS and LAHORE and as a result made contact with LAHORE.
A Badel pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 300 Metres (see LAHORE).

In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid CONRAD THE GREAT.

Horse No 12 GOOD PROSPECT (J406) A Hamelin From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Post-time favourite Never Too Soon was ridden patiently fourth last before hitting the front 150m out along the inside and drawing clear for a fourth win from 48 starts. He was a very well rated runner on two wins last season over the same Valley 1,200m. Exceed The Wish came from last near the outside after a slow start to just snatch second. He has been doing his best work late in four straight Valley 1,200m runs and might warrant a step up to 1,650m. Punted late Honest Witness was just touched off late for second after getting dragged back to fourth last from gate 10 at the 800m. It was a good effort at his first outing over the Valley 1,200m. Amazing Kid stayed on well for fourth after a one-off trip from better than midfield. It was an improved effort at his second ever start. Mega Bonus succumbed late after dictating the pace from gate six. He couldn't offset top weight following a win last start. Bits Superstar kept on one-paced after a wide with cover trip from midfield. Lahore threw in the towel after getting roughed up 300m out by Savvy Twinkle following a speed-tracking run.
