Recap by phillip woo

Ariel flew the start to assume to the lead from New Forest 1,100m out and kept up a strong gallop for a third all-weather surface success this term. Mojave Desert found one too good after a rails run from better than midfield. It was another solid effort despite retrying the 1,650m after a 1,200m success. New Forest kept on gamely for third after handing up the lead 1,100m out. It was a good run on his return to Class Three after a win. Thumped late in betting, Wukong Jewellery made up heaps of ground late down the outside for fourth after making his run fifth last and three wide from gate 11. It was a vastly improved effort following a switch in surfaces. Allcash ran on all right for fifth after making his run five back on the fence. Never Peter Out came up one-paced after being popped the question following a rails run from midfield. He's on his mark.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten : (796) - SHEK SHEUNG RIVER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 TURIN MASCOT (H165) J Orman From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 2 DRAGON AIR FORCE (J279) M Chadwick Throughout the early and middle stages raced keenly.

After the event M Chadwick reported that his mount did not appreciate the "Wet Slow" conditions on the All Weather surface.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 NOBLE PURSUIT (H324) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Bumped near the 500 Metres.

Horse No 5 MOJAVE DESERT (J330) K C Leung After the event K C Leung reported that he was instructed to hold a midfield position.

He said from barrier 1 his mount commenced well and held an on-pace position without having any pressured applied to do so.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 CHILL KAKA (J486) Z Purton Had its left front plate refitted in the Parade Ring.

Was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

After the event Z Purton reported that his mount did not appear to appreciate the "Wet Slow" track conditions and also may have come to the end of its preparation.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have an epiglottic entrapment.

The performance of CHILL KAKA was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, CHILL KAKA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 7 KEMPES (J265) B Avdulla After the event B Avdulla reported that with his mount stepping up in distance he was instructed to hold a more forward position.

He added that his mount did not appreciate the "Wet Slow" conditions on the All Weather surface.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 NEW FOREST (K094) H Bentley When questioned H Bentley stated that his instructions were to go forward and lead if possible.

He said whilst his mount commenced well, ARIEL, which was positioned to his inside, also jumped well and showed intent on holding a forward position.

He said making the first turn he was able to improve past ARIEL where he held an advantage on the horse and he considered continuing forward to cross that runner.

He said when he received a call from Apprentice E C W Wong, the rider of ARIEL, near the 1300 Metres he formed the opinion that runner would maintain its position to his inside and for this reason he did not continue forward to cross that runner as he felt this would result in the pace of the event increasing which would have been to the detriment of his mount.

He added that in hindsight, given the early stages of the event were run outside of standard time, he may have been better suited by continuing forward to cross ARIEL.

Horse No 9 YOUNG BRILLIANT (H135) Y L Chung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 10 ARIEL (G223) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 13 ALLCASH (K190) M F Poon Slow to begin.

Horse No 14 WUKONG JEWELLERY (K314) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
